As Lord Tolan rode up to the camp, ten of the Shadow Riders took notice of him and silently walked out to meet him. Bracing himself, he told them simply, "I am Lord Tolan, High Councillor of Yarfell. I have business with Captain Irzen. Please let me pass."
One of them took the reins of his horse, while another one walked up, saying plainly, "I am the Sergeant of The Shadow Riders! You may dismount, Lord Tolan, unless you plan to ride your horse into our Captain's tent!"
A few of the men snickered a little at the Sergeant's joke while he continued, "You have been expected, sir! Your steed will be well cared for and your possessions will remain where they are! The Captain wants us to extend every courtesy to you--and we shall!"
Pointing to the tallest tent in the encampment, the Sergeant said, "Captain Irzen is in that one. I shall accompany you--at least to the door--that way Nightrunner won't try and take a bite out of you! The Captain's war wolf can be very protective of his master--especially when he's asleep! Follow me!"
And with that, the Sergeant headed off in the direction he had pointed to a few seconds ago!
