Tolan watched Nightrunner cautiously, noting that he seemed to be fairly intelligent and somewhat friendly under the right circumstances. He was also left with the distinct impression that the animal had just slobbered his master awake.
"Thank you," Tolan replied to the Sergeant, shifting the coffer to one arm while he checked to make sure the commission was still safe in its leather pouch. Yes, there it was. So far, so good.
Pushing aside the tent flap, he paused for a second, with the vague feeling that he was intruding, before announcing himself. "Captain Irzen? It is I, Lord Tolan of Yarfell. I have here your royal commission and advance pay, and I must speak with you urgently, in private."
