When the Mentalist nudged her, Kryschenn's automatic response was to give him a friendly elbow in the ribs, a silly 'got you back!' that couldn't have hurt by any stretch of the imagination. "Fair enough," she admitted with a smile in response to Cole's reason for not saving himself with the Stone when he fell, adding, "My sword's pretty good for detecting and dispeling magic, but that doesn't mean I walk around with it drawn and ready all the time. I guess it's sort of the same thing."
Still, it seemed rather odd to her how casually he shrugged off the whole incident of nearly falling to his death. Just thinking about those panicked seconds still made her stomach tie up in knots, while he blew it off like it was no bigger a deal than spilling a glass of water. Well, maybe he was just like that, one of those, "I'm alive, I'm still breathing, let's go!" types. She shrugged to herself. Really, he was right, they were both still alive, they'd made down the mountain intact, so what was she worrying about?
They walked in silence for about fifty more yards, heading towards Macula, and Kryschenn found herself vaguely wondering if there were any Yarfellian guards still in that town. She really didn't want to take the chance of any of them recognizing her; she knew that if she were to be arrested again, there would be no escape this time. But they had to get to Macula, to meet up with the others.
The others..? An idea struck Kryschenn just then. Maybe there would be a way to set up an "early-warning" system as they approached the town to tell them if any guards were to be seen. "Hey, Cole?" she asked. "Didn't you say that there were more of us in Macula? Now that you know that your 'telepathic call' that you tried earlier really does work, what are the chances of contacting them that way to tell them that we're coming?"
