Kryschenn's green eyes narrowed slightly as Cole once again tried to explain away the bandage on his hand. She couldn't understand why he was so uptight about a cut or a burn or something, but she figured he'd better get over it quickly. This was the Realm, where medicine was medieval at best, not Earth, where a cut could be easily treated by a dozen different things from the medicine cabinet. Kryschenn guessed that it was probably quite a common thing in the Realm to die of gangrene or blood poisoning due to the primitive sanitation and lack of modern medicines.
Cole had also finally said something that she quickly latched onto. "It's 'not that badly hurt,' huh? So you admit that there is something wrong with your hand? And you bandaged it with leather?" Hands on hips, she took on an almost scolding tone as she said, "Look, don't start in about Venger and saving Yarfell and all the things we have to worry about, okay? We still have time to deal with all that. I just want you to get a proper bandage on that. Leather is not very sanitary and you really don't want to have a wound wrapped up in it! I can cut a strip off the hem of this blouse- which has almost had it anyway- and make a decent bandage for it in five minutes."
As she spoke, she reached for her Sgian Dubh in her boot, intending to cut a strip from her cotton blouse. "We'll still be able to catch up with everyone, don't worry. I'll rebandage it, then we can forget all about it and catch up with everyone else. Now let me have a look."
