"Not bad, not bad." said Chopper approvingly, "Now, I'll teach you a few defenses. The three basics are dodge, block, and parry. Dodge is pretty much as it sounds, simply sidestepping your opponent or getting the heck out of way of his blow! Block is when you use your blade to hold off your opponent. You should do this only when you think you can physically overpower or match up evenly with your opponent! Since we're going to be fighting Orcs, you have neither the strength nor the size to go head up with them! In which case, learning to parry is more you're speed! It involves deflecting your opponent's attack in such a way that it can allow you to either retreat or attack on your own!"

Smiling a little the Drow Warrior added, "Dodging is based upon your speed, blocking is based upon your strength, and parrying is based upon your skill. Now I'm going to come at you with a simple stab and slice maneuver, and I want you to select the defense that you are most comfortable with! Okay, Spud, let's see what you've got!"

And with that, Chopper launched himself at Spud with a stabbing maneuver and then a slicing one.
