Matthew wandered over to Abigail, studying the sword in her hand with a frown. "I recognize that," he said finally. "It belonged to one of my uncle's men. We will have to send someone for his body, so we can give him a proper burial. We also need to find out if anyone else is missing."He then blinked as Anna-Moe disappeared, then reappeared again, reporting that she thought she found the way out. "We know the way out, ma'am. You can just follow us." He motioned the others to follow, moving ahead of them to lead them down the tunnel.
Sunny lagged behind, surreptitiously pulling off the glove on her left hand. She didn't want anyone else to be able to follow the marks Kimmy had left so they wouldn't get lost. Concentrating with a frown, she felt the familiar tingling that told her the change occurred properly. She curled her new claws, being sure to hide her hand behind the skirt of her dress in case anyone looked back at her.
As she came to the first mark, she waited until the others were out of sight, then scored the rock until the purple words were unreadable. She winced a bit at the sound that it made, quickly hiding her hand again and walking rapidly to catch up to the others.
