"Aak!" Zak, who was certainly in no danger now, looked to Death with another, "What the HELL?" look as her spirit was shaken to and fro by the crazed Drow."What else do you WANT from me?" she asked reasonably and somewhat plaintively. "I'm DEAD, aren't I?"
"I WANT YOU TO SUFFER, YOU LITTLE GUTTERSNIPE!" screeched War Scribe angrily, "I WANT YOU TO SQUEAL LIKE A PIG AND DIE, ZAKIYAH! SQUEAL LIKE A PIG AND DIE!!!
Death was glowering at them both, and caught War Scribe by the ear, hefting her as if the Drow weighed no more than thistledown. "You cut that out THIS instant or I shall send you back and NEVER COME ANYHERE NEAR YOU AGAIN! Now this is just too much!"
"SHE started it," Zak said sullenly, rubbing at her throat. "I was only defending myself!"
Death looked at her skeptically. "Uh-huh. The fact that she's a drow and also a keeper of lore had nothing to do with it." Zak looked a little sheepish- she couldn't deny that she was slightly prejudiced (perhaps justly so- after all, she'd just been killed by Drow AGAIN...), and Validor's teaching was quite clear on that point.
Death caught Zak by the arm. "Come on," she continued, still holding War Scribe by the ear like a naughty child and keeping her from pouncing on Zak again. "We're going to have a little chat with Val about you two. I can't be constantly pulled back here for your false alarms! I DO have a life, you know. Sort of."
"Wait a minute!" cried War Scribe calming down a little, "That melodic voice, your beautiful face, your cold, icy touch, I know who you are--YOUR DEATH!!!" Yanking her ear away from Death's grip, the Dark Elf Chronicler immediately wrapped both of her arms around Death's right leg and clung it as tightly as barnacle to the bottom of a boat.
Looking up into Death's eyes, War Scribe began to cry with tears of joy as she expressed in a state of complete adoration, "OH DEATH!!! I LOVE YOU!!! YOU'RE MY HERO!!! I ALWAYS WANTED TO BE JUST LIKE YOU, WHEN I GREW UP!!! YOU'RE EVERYTHING TO ME!!! THIS IS THE GREATEST MOMENT OF MY AFTERLIFE!!! AFTER ALL THIS TIME, I FINALLY GET TO MEET YOU!!! OH DEATH, SWEET DEATH!!! YOU'RE MY REASON TO BE!!!"
