In my relief to see that Iris was alright, I almost went headlong into Tommy, who looked vaguely surprised at the somewhat ungainly Poet invading his space. "Um, sorry Tommy!" I blushed "I thought my grace had improved here in the Realm, seems like it's wearing off again." Bubbles caught my eye and smiled confidently-I wished I had the same self assurance she did, maybe I'd be more use to the group.
Banishing those thoughts for the moment, I headed towards the mirror maze with the others. It all looked very spooky-I was reminded of the fairground in Skegness I used to visit when the family stayed with Grandad in the summer holidays, although in truth this was bigger and looked a lot more scary. I hoped that I wouldn't get separated from the rest of the gang in there, because I knew I'd never find my way back out.
Staying close to the others in the group, I sensed it was time for a little reflection of my own (no pun intended-well, maybe!)
Reflection's Reflection
We thought we'd seen the worst of it
With Venger's troops and traitor's eyes
But now it seems, with Fortune's flit
Her gaze locks on a new surprise
What will we find, what will we see
Once entered in this hall of fear?
More than the sneses we must readily
Employ to keep our minds all clear
The mirrors show an altered world
With figures 'twixt the dream and real
I look to one, see dragons curled
Around my frame, hot on my heel
And yet another shows me things
That I would desire, would yearn to touch
Will I be caught in Fancy's wings
Will all this dreaming 'mount to much?
'Tis yet a challenge we must face
Another task 'fore we are free
So into the light, into this place
My friends and I begin to "see?"
I wandered along, far more carefully now, mindful of the new danger but strangely curious as to what I would see. One thing was for sure, I was going to try very hard not to get lost!
