Footsteps, voices, and a golden light awakened her. Iris got to her feet in time to see her friends approaching."Iris!" cried Sheila. "How did you get here? We've been worried about you ever since we couldn't find you in the dungeons."
"It's a long story," Iris answered. "To be honest with you, if I weren't here instead of in my cell, I'd think it was just a strange dream."
When everyone got there, she related the whole story, then asked, "Has anyone ever heard of anything like that before?"
Hank thought a minute, then said, "I vaguely remember Presto talking about something he called artifact transformation. Ask him or Zakiyah the next time you see them."
"Now that we're together again, is there anything that's happened that I should know? What's been going on while I was napping?" were Iris's next questions.
((Tag, anyone! It's great to be back with the group and the game! Oh, Zak, did I spell your name correctly? I was just going by memory.))
"I'm glad you're okay Iris," Bubbles said with relief. "I'm not sure how long you were down here though. We don't know when you were taken from your cell. But we only escaped just a little while ago ourselves and we're trying to catch up with the others who've already come this way."
Bubbles looked down the corridor. It seemed innocuous enough. "Speaking of which....we really should get on with it. Goodness only knows how long it's gonna take us to find them and I'm startin' to get hungry. Hopefully we can all find an exit outta here soon."
And with that, Bubbles and EO went ahead, leading the others on. A few minutes later they were startled to see light ahead of them, and several figures approaching from the opposite direction. However, it quickly became obvious that these were just reflected images of the adventurers, not some new threat.
Moving closer, they saw they were approaching a naturally mirrored surface growing out of the rock at a crazy angle. It soon became apparent that a path did continue forward, though finding it would not be easy as more reflected figures came into view, each strangely distorted in a different way.
"Oh my goodness!" Bubbles exclaimed. "This looks like a Carnival House of Mirrors!" She looked at a huge bloated version of herself with distaste as they moved into the Maze...
Bubbles...
