Re: [Macula] Ready for an attack?

“Them!” the Gloved Fighter replied while struggling to retain control of Dowitcher, Abby tried to keep her mare under control however she was quickly becoming skittish as she sensed the creatures approaching. Arriving almost on cue, four owlbears appeared on the scene.

The largest among them raised itself on hind legs, assuming a towering stance over its pack as he let loose a bellowing roar announcing their presence to the travelling buffet before them. Dowitcher panicked as the quartet of owlbears confronted the group. She had good reason to, as horses were among their favored prey. “Whoa!” Abigail exclaimed as she was bucked from her horse. Abby landed safely on all fours but she watched Dowitcher run off in the opposite direction. “Bravery was never one of Dowitcher’s strong-suits,” she sighed.

Straightening herself up, she turned quickly to see that one of the beasts, among the two slightly smaller owlbears had turned its attention squarely on her. ‘With this one focused on me, hopefully Kayla, Sunny and the rest will have a better chance dealing with the others,’ she thought, trying to maintain her distance from what appeared to be a juvenile. If that were true it seemed near the age where it should be mature enough to fend for itself, not as powerful as its parents but still a very dangerous opponent.

She took in the massive bulk, sharpened claws, and vicious beak of the animal before her. Displaying caution but showing no real fear of the creature, Abigail adjusted the gloves she wore to give them a better fit over her hands. Opting to take advantage of its prey's stationary position, the young owlbear charged the Gloved Fighter. As the creature made for an attack Abby darted into the woods with a flurry of fur and feathers following in pursuit.
