    [Macula] Ready for an attack?

Posted by Matthew on 1/30/2001, 4:54 pm

((playing a bit of catch-up! **giggles**))

As Matthew eyed the now much larger group, he noticed the newcomer was paying an inordinate amount of attention to Lady Sunny. He frowned, scowling at the other young man. He walked over to Sunny, leaning over to murmer in her ear that he would return momentarily, then with a last scathing glance at the stranger headed for the stables. He'd show Sunny that he was more valuable!

After negotiating a bit with the stable owner--no hard task, really, since he knew who Matthew was--Matthew returned with the horses, a stablehand helping him lead them. As he drew up to the group with the mounts, he smirked triumphantly at the newcomer.

"Guess that'll show him who's more important," Matthew muttered to himself as he examined the saddle before mounting. He followed the others as they made their way out of town, fortunately without those thrice-cursed Yarfellians challenging them any. As they entered the woods, and the newly-introduced Cole told his companion to drop the illusion, his jaw dropped at Cole's new appearance. What was the fabric he was wearing? It looked . . . odd.

His horse shifting uneasily beneath him made him momentarily forget his animosity towards del Tigre, and he looked about him in unease. The forest had gone suddenly quiet, and that was never a good sign. Reaching for the dagger he kept strapped to his belt, Matthew waited for whatever would happen next.

"Sunny, Jaina, everyone, get ready!" Abigail's voice shouted the warning, and Matthew heard the snapping of twigs and branches. His hand instinctively clutched the hilt tighter, as he waited for the enemy to show itself.
