[Catacombs group 2] What's down the corridor?

    Posted by EO/Adeline on 1/30/2001, 1:28 am

EO walked cautiously down the corridor, keeping an eye on the heat signature she had spotted earlier. As she drew closer, she noticed that it was smaller, possibly humanoid-size. Just then, out of the corner of her eye she spotted another heat signature, and she spun on her heel, bringing her sword up to the ready. When nothing immediately greeted her eyes, she guessed that it was Sheila, and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Sheila," EO hissed quietly. She heard a startled exclamation as the signature halted.

"How did you know I was here?" Sheila's voice asked in surprise.

"Underground like this body heat stands out like a beacon," EO answered. "What I spotted hasn't moved yet, and my guess from the size is there's only one of whatever it is. It's humanoid-size though, so likely as not whatever it is won't have infravision, unless it's an Elf or a Dwarf. So it won't be able to spot you like I did. Just be careful, okay? I'd hate to think of how I'd get maimed if you got hurt and I let you go off alone."

Sheila snorted softly. "I can take care of myself you know!"

"I know. But you know how some guys are, they think they have to protect us "weaker" women." EO grinned. "But I'm sure the rest of the Gang knows different. It's the guys in my group that I'm worried about!" Sheila giggled softly, and EO did too. "But it makes more sense for you to scope things out, since you're invisible, and I'm not. Just remember I'll be close, give a yell if you need some help."

EO stayed where she was as she watched Sheila's signature move farther down the corridor. It wouldn't do for her to go trailing after Sheila and stirring up whatever it was by being spotted herself. Tense minutes later, Sheila's voice floated down the corridor.

    "It's Iris! I found her!"

EO nodded, then snorted derisively at herself for the motion that Sheila couldn't see. "Okay, I'll let the others know!" EO turned, and headed back down the corridor, to where the others were waiting at the entrance for news. "What I spotted was Iris, apparently. Don't have a clue as to how she got down here without us seeing, but Sheila's with her now. Should we go see what's the what?"
