"AAAAAAAA!!!" cried Isadorra and Adrick together in horror as the Mystic began hurling energy at the unstable rubble. "What are you doing?! " They turned, not a moment too soon, as Cassandra's sphere caused the already crumbling ceiling to collapse. "RUN!!" Isadorra cried, echoed by Adrick in his loudest little bug voice, and they pushed at the people who had entered the passage to escape the bulette, who was roaring in pain and fury.
"What happened?" Presto shouted in panic over the noise.
"Someone decided to bring the roof down and knock out our escape route!" shouted Eric.
Just as they'd thought they were safe, everyone was forced to pile out into the main tunnel again, running past the wounded bulette as quickly as they could while dust and rocks and the thundering roar of a cave-in followed them. Varla quickly cast the illusion of their own selves running the opposite way, hoping the dust would sheild their true forms. Unfortunately, she hadn't realized that the bulette was completely blinded now, and her illusions had no effect on the creature's keen sense of hearing.
"Adrick?! Where's Adrick??" Isadorra cried in a panicked voice. "He must be under the rocks!" She could hear his little buzzing voice as he tried to find a way out, and her heart pounded feverishly with his panic. At least he wasn't hurt, thank the maker- if he'd had a larger form, he might have been crushed!
"Help us, help us! Don't leave us!" And the crazy child started digging feverishly at the rubble, heedless of the monster stomping toward them.
Eric lept forward and tried to grab her, but she put up such a howling and a struggle that he dropped her immediately. "Stupid kid!" he shouted, "Come on!"
"I can't leave Adrick here or we'll DIE!" she shouted back, crying bitterly with fear.
"Oh, for the love of...." Presto joined them, reaching into his hat for a spell he'd used once before, long ago. Flinging it at the nearest rocks made them begin rising into the air like big fat balloons, and Adrick buzzed free, heading straight for Isadorra. He disappeared into her shirt and she cupped a hand over the spot where he was, over her heart.
