Thothalas slowly uncurled from the fetal position and began to waken. He felt the little lump of weight that was Cadbury pressed against him and curled his arm around her for support. Big mistake. The pain in his still pink though not as badly burned arm (thanks to Ashleyien's healing arts) was like an lightning bolt igniting all his nerves.
One eye then the other final achieved something near to focus. Cadbury was a wreck, but the mage's weak probing fingers found no real hurt; she was exhausted. Best to let her rest while she could. The elf struggled to sit up.
"My gods," he began, "I hurt all over. I even hurt where I end and the air begins. Did... did we win? I think we did 'cause I'm in far too much pain to be dead."
