Adrick halted suddenly, a little fluttering shape in the darkness. He darted to the tunnel down the left, then to the right, then flapped irresolutely at the junction of the three."Well...?" Isadorra panted.
"Don't know, don't know!" he chittered. "You run too slow, can't hear them anymore!" He became an owl and fluttered to her shoulder, round eyes closed as he strained his tufted ears. "Don't know," he hooted softly in her ear, and became a mouse again so he could hide from the eyes of the others in her hood again. She patted him comfortingly as the others caught up with her.
Half fearing what the others would think of her, half realizing that they had no better idea than she, she just picked a tunnel at random, hoping. "Adrick says they went that way!" Isadorra shouted, and pointed to the left. "But....where's Krys?"
