Kimmy had gotten up off the floor of the cave after the bats had flown around and left by another tunnel. That's when she heard the strange hissing sound. She strained to hear more and tried to follow Krys when she moved forward to get a peek.Krys had begun moving backward telling them to back off slowly. 'Funny, Krys' voice sounded a bit different when she said that. What could it be??'
People began making noise, talking all at once about what it could be and what to do about it. 'Well, if the whatchmacalit coming towards us had been chasing bats through the tunnels, then it certainly wasn't gonna have any trouble finding us,' Kimmy thought.
Kimmy winced as Cassie let off an energy sphere into the tunnel. She hoped it wouldn't end up ricocheting back at them off an odd bit off wall or ended up missing the thingy coming at them. The way these tunnels twisted and all, it was possible. Especially if it wasn't at the height Cassie had projected the sphere at!
Tugging on Krys' arm which held the torch, Kimmy said softly, "Uh, Krys? These tunnels are great fun and all... very exciting y'know, but I think we oughta go down the tunnel the bats flew down. If they were being chased, I betcha they were flying out! Once we're out, we can get more torches and some food and stuff to find the staff bits. And uh, just in case Cassie didn't zap the hiss thingy, um, we oughta know which way to run. Uh before the torch goes out." She eyed the flame which was burning much lower now than earlier.
"By the way, is that a thigh bone you're holding?"
