Re: Krys and Kimmy in the Katacombs

Posted by Kryschenn on 12/17/2000, 2:00 pm , in reply to "Re: Krys and Kimmy in the Katacombs"

Kimmy wasn't sure what she had seen. It kinda sorta Maybe looked like there could've been some mist or something down there... her hand was still in her pocket however, and she was much more concerned with that weird whispery voice.

    "You!...Yesssss..." it seemed to say.

"Uh, that's okay if you're seeing ghosts, as long as they won't melt our faces off or anything. I uh, don't suppose you just heard that whisper just then huh?

"Whisper?" Kryschenn asked. No, I didn't hear anything. Maybe it was the torch sputtering." She paused a moment to wrap the last strip of sleeve fabric around the end of the torch. She was going to have to shred the bodice part of her underblouse next if they wanted more light. "And no, so far the ghost doesn't seem to want to melt anyone's faces. That's probably a good thing, considering that everything else we've run into seems to." She took a moment to explain about the falling stalactites, the fireball that swept Tommy away, the unseen thing that they weren't sure was in the cavern or not, the Umber Hulk, and the gremlins that had dragged her off. (Having been unconscious at the time, she was not aware that she had actually been swept away in a fireball, just as Tommy had.)

Shrugging, Kimmy went on to explain all about how their trip to Venger's Castle had gone complete with her explorations, the thumpa wumpa wumps, and how she had even gotten the Orb!

"Hank has the Orb now. At least I think he does. I was kinda busy with getting this stupid ring off to pay to much attention," she said and then proceeded to tell her about the zapping and the ouchies.

"Say, Krys. When I got to stay in the Yarfell Dungeons, some Tolan guy told us a bit about what happened here. Did you really go berserk and kill all the bad guys?"

Krys got very quiet for a moment as she stared off grimly into the total darkness of the tunnel. What Kimmy had just mentioned was something she didn't want to think about. At all.

"Yeah," she said slowly. "I did. At least, I think so. I don't remember. That Yodel guy said he had some information on Lady Reskya's death. I followed him to Lord Droth's estate, which was probably the stupidest thing I've done in years. Droth and several of his retainers were dead when I got there. Next thing I knew, I was surrounded by guards, I don't know where they came from, but there they were. They said I'd murdered them. They were going to- well, I'm not sure what all of their intentions were. Some of them wanted to kill me right there. Others... their ideas weren't nearly as pleasant. I remember drawing my sword, but I think I blacked out because I really don't remember too much after that, other than everything going all red. I woke up and they were all hacked to pieces and there was blood all over..." Kryschenn shuddered at the dark memory and took a moment to collect herself. "I had some pretty serious injuries too, which Fairalin healed when she came to help me. Lord Tolan- yes, I met him- and the princess believe that it was self-defense, that I was set up as part of a plot, but the fact of the matter is, I went crazy and killed nine men and I don't remember."

Considering Krys' answer, Kimmy thought for a moment and said seriously while making sure to stand to Krys' left, "Well, just remember, if ya ever have the urge to go beserk again, always always Always, hack to your Right!"

Nodding her head now that the important stuff was out of the way, Kimmy asked, "So where are all the others anyway that ya lost them? And uh, I hope you have a spare torch on ya, cause it doesn't look like this one has a whole heckuva lotta life left to it. Hey! Maybe we'll find some of that Staff of Yarfell on the way out!" Kimmy said optimistically.

"I hope the others have found a way out, maybe retracing Presto's markers, because I'm totally lost and have no idea where they are," Krys answered, trying not to consider the possibility that the others had not survived the gremlin attack. "The torch?" She looked at it seriously. It was their lifeline, their one and only real hope of getting out of here. "It will last as long as there is fabric in my blouse and cape. But as for finding a piece of the Staff of Yarfell," Krys held up what she had discovered under the pile of rubble that she had blasted, "I'm already one step ahead of you."
