Neither here nor there ((Outside Macula))

Posted by Cole the Mentalist on 12/14/2000, 12:58 pm

Meanwhile, as Cole del Tigre, Glitter, Carrie Lostchild(?) ride atop Uni en route to Macula, the Mentalist was still dreaming…

He ran swiftly at first, through the terrain of the forest. Cole couldn’t believe the speed he was moving at as he dashed beneath the low hanging branches and effortlessly leaped over rocks and shrubs. Running further into the woods, he noticed the trees were less abundant then at the point where he entered. Moving deeper into the forest he noticed a figure ahead of him, seemingly resting at the side of a deciduous tree.

As Cole closed in he could tell the female warrior was wounded severely. “Help me,” she weakly called out to the Mentalist as she stretched out a hand to the approaching stranger. She had a deep wound across her breast and abdomen, and in vain tried holding herself together with her with her other hand. The fallen autumn leaves around the warrior were decorated in crimson as her lifeblood continued to stream from her wounds.

The Mentalist saw the bloodied leaves laying around her, and kneeled beside the warrior, looking over the injuries she was dealt. At that moment Cole realized he was powerless in this situation. “I’m sorry, I…I can’t do anything for you,” he replied as his voice began trembling, “I’m so sorry.” The warrioress nodded understandingly, before convulsing and coughing up more of her blood. Cole took her hand and held it tightly. All he could do was watch, hoping his presence offered some measure of comfort to the dying warrior as her life slipped away.

When she passed on, Cole opened his hands and was silent for a moment, puzzled at the sight he beheld. Within his hands was the bony hand of a skeleton. Looking again to the fallen warrior maiden, he saw her skeletal frame garbed in tatters, wearing armor rusted beyond salvation. The startled Mentalist rose to his feet and backed away from the skeleton. He wasn’t sure what to make of the situation but knew it was time for him to leave this place.

“Was she a ghost? Was this all part of some trick?” Cole thought as he ventured deeper into the woods. Looking at the lower section of his uniform, the Mentalist saw it was still wet with the blood of the warrioress, which only added to his confusion. Finally, after what seemed like hours in his mind, he exited the forest. "Good Lord!" He gasped beholding the terrible sight now before him. "What happened here?"
