Eric exchanged a look with Diana and Presto, both of whom were looking amused and exasperated. Diana folded her arms. "Look, you two," she said finally, staring down at Fairalin and Cassandra. "We've got quite enough to deal with without you two constantly fighting with Eric. Sure, he gets on eveyrone's nerves at times--" (Eric snorts derisively at this) "-- but he's not an idiot, and he's not a coward and happens to have saved our lives more than I can count. _I_ would stand by him in _any_ battle." She laid a hand on Eric's shoulder, and Eric gave her a look that was nothing like the sarcastic smirk he'd have given anyone else. He hadn't realized how much their comments had affected his own self-confidence, and he appreciated Diana's gesture all the more for finally standing up for him. Presto looked a little more meek and said nothing, but Varla pointed out, "You guys have acted like you hated him even before you _met_ him...what's he done that's so bad, other than..." her mouth quirks in a grin as she looks at Eric, "...speaking his mind? Loudly? At great length?" Eric feigned a sour look as she, Presto, and Diana chuckled. "Aw, gimmie a break....Fine, fine, I won't say a word even ig gremlins start gnawing off my arm. And I'm sorry I called you an airhead. Though it's hard to figure out what to call someone who--" (Diana slugged his shoulder warningly) "--who..er...jumps to conclusions without a c--" (Presto stomps on his foot) "--er...without much evidence," he finished meekly, to their laughter. "C'mon, we have to keep moving. Let Diana lead the way if you guys can't stand any of MY ideas. It doesn't matter WHO leads. Khrys is waiting for us!" He hadn't any idea if Khrys was or not- if anything, she was probably running around with two of the three pieces of the staff already. She was something else, that gal, he thought with a grin. She reminded him of Diana, a little, with all her cheeky remarks....of course, Diana never really lost her cool. Or went on berserking sprees either...
