((Glitter, Carrie, are you still with me here?))"Keep running!" Cole panted, not daring to glance back and see how many guards were following them as they ran towards the main entrance of the castle. He couldn't see Carrie anywhere, but he wasn't sure if she had been caught, had turned invisible, or just hadn't come along in the first place. It was a good thing he'd gone to check out the stables the first day they'd arrived in Yarfell or else he really would have no idea where he was going. All they had to do now was get past the guards stationed at the castle gates.
Barely slowing as he ran past the two men, he shouted, "Outworlders! They're in the kitchens!" Startled, the two soldiers barely took half a second to process this statement before drawing their weapons and disappearing into the castle. 'I can't believe that worked!' Cole said to himself in disbelief.
Within a few seconds, though, it sunk in through the guards' thick skulls that the one who had shouted about the Outworlders had himself been among that very group when they arrived. "Hey!" they yelled, screeching to a stop. "Come back here! Halt!" Turning around once again, really mad this time, they gave chase while shouting for the aid of any of their fellow guards within earshot.
"Well, I knew it was too good to last," Cole laughed with a certain amount of irony, hoping that he would not drop from sheer exhaustion before they reached the stables.
