Ashleyien was relieved that her friends were okay, well at least some of them were, but was quite unsettled that she could actually know something like that. “How did I do that? How can I know if my friends are safe or not? It doesn’t make any sense.”The woman laughed, “It is interesting how you do all these things and do not even know what you are doing. You have magic, strong magic. You were born with it; it is a part of you and you must learn to channel this power. I believe you talents lie in part with the powers of Spirit as mine did. You must discover your other powers for yourself but I will give you a little aid with this one since it is somewhat obscure.” The woman sat down gently on the grass and motioned the Warrioress to do the same. When the younger one was seated the elegantly dressed woman continued. “There are five powers, four elemental based and Spirit. The elements, of course, are Earth, Fire, Water, and Air. I’m not sure of your strength in these so you must discover it, but you will have some talent with each of them to varying degrees. I do know that you have considerable talent with Spirit. Just the fact that you are here shows that. The sorceress, Tuculcha, also has some talent with it, which is why she was able to enter your dreams, but I do believe that you can be much more powerful when you master your powers.”
Ash stared at the woman, dumfounded, “Powerful, ME? I don’t think so. You should see Thoth about that, I mean he’s the one who made the portal and everything…”
“Do not see yourself short. The elf is powerful as well but you both have different talents. I do not think you have any clue of how to make a portal, do you?”
“No, but I really don’t know how to do anything magical. I used what Thothalas taught me when he showed me how to make the trap detector to create the whirlwind. It was just blind luck and I wasn’t even really what I was trying to do.”
“Fair enough, but you do hold a talent. Spirit is necessary to enter the world of dreams, which you can apparently do without even trying to; that shows a real strength in the power. It can also be used to sense the well being of those you are close to; the closer you are to someone the more you can feel. With time and practice you can develop this. Spirit, along with Air and Water can also be used to heal…”
Ash suddenly remembered her wound and checked her arm, “It’s gone…”
“No, it was never there in this world, but it is very real back in the Realm. If you close your eyes and picture the wound being sewn closed with the flows of power you can heal that wound. Small wounds are the easiest and with time and a lot of practice maybe you will even have the power to heal life-threatening wounds, but that will not be for years.”
“Healing? That could be useful in the Swamp where it seems like everything’s out to get us. Can I really do it?” The Warrioress said as she pushed a stray piece of clean hair out of her face. ‘I wish this was reality. I miss having clean cloths and hair without a trace of mud…’
“Yes, Little One, you can do it. You can even heal your own wound from here, but be warned that Healing will tire you to some degree and tire the one you heal even more. Hence, if you heal yourself, you will be unconscious for a little while. You can also use the same method to relieve your exhaustion, but you will remain unconscious for quite a while your powers recuperate. The length of time you need to rest depends on your inborn strength in the power, the stronger you are the less time you need to recharge what you have used. It is quite difficult to explain. You would be unconscious for maybe an hour but when you awake you will be refreshed and well again.”
That definitely sounded appealing to the exhausted young lady. “How do I do it?”
“The same as you do anything with the power, clear your mind and picture the power doing what you want it to do. It has worked for you so far an it should work again. I have to go now, but be safe, my child.”
“Can you at least tell me your name?”
“Krystia.” She said as she walked into the dark forest and vanished within its depths.
“Okay, let’s give it a try.” Ash said as she closed her eyes and cleared her mind, again envisioning her sword on a black background. She then envisioned the wound on her arm and pictured colorful threads of white, blue and yellow sewing her wound closed and let them vanish. “I hope that worked…” She then did the same thing again but this time she envisioned pulling her exhaustion into a tight ball and having the colored threads entwine themselves around it. When the ball was covered she had if all disappear. “I really hoped that worked.” She thought as she closed her eyes and drifted out of the DreamWorld into a dreamless sleep.
